Dr. Jafar Hasanppor’s biography in brief

Jafar Hasanppor was born in the town of (Sablax)  Mahabad In Eastern Kurdistan (Iran) in 1949. In 1973, he graduated from University of Tehran with a BA in social sciences. In 1999, he took a doctoral degree in Iranian languages at University of Uppsala, Sweden. His dissertation is about the European, Persian and Arabic loans in Southern Kurdish (Sorani).

Between1999- 2003, he has studied the situation of the Kurdish immigrants in Sweden, especially their family life, education and women associations. Articles of this period are    published in Swedish, English and Kurdish in some magazines and newspapers.

Hasanpoor has taught at high schools of Mahabad in 1973. He has also taught Kurdish at University of Uppsala and has worked as a projectleader and a researcher in Karlstad Municipality and at Karlstad University.  Moreover, he has been a supervisor of PhD candidates at University of Göteborg.

Between 2003-2005, he has worked as an essayist in Kurdish webmagazines (astafe.org, dimane.com, helwist.com) and has worked on the democratic strategy of the Kurdish nationalist movement.
